Dow Wilson - CEO, Varian Medical Systems

Dow Wilson speaks to ecancer at the Global Health Catalyst Summit 2019 at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts about the work of Varian Medical System improving radiotherapy access in Africa.

He speaks generally about the previous situation regarding disease in Africa, and the shift from infectious disease to non-communicable disease on the continent.

Mr Wilson goes on to explain how Varian, amongst other companies, have pushed forward products which are more cost-effective, and suitable for low and middle income countries.

He outlines how each scenario will require a slightly different execution and business model, however common attributes like education and training are being be improved across the board.

After outlining his vision for the future, Mr Wilson shares his experiences from the Obama task force and some of the main things learnt from this.
