Dr Albert Oriol - Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, Barcelona, Spain

Dr Albert Oriol speaks to ecancer at the 2019 MyKE Myeloma meeting in Barcelona about the treatment of smouldering multiple myeloma.

He discusses the role of early treatment intervention in this disease, especially before the appearance of symptoms and some of the current trials that focus on this.

Dr Oriol also describes some of the factors clinicians should consider before deciding on a treatment strategy for these patients and if these could become personalised.

He concludes by mentioning how combination therapy could be used in the future for these patients to avoid relapse in a proportion of patients along with finding a curative option.
